Armadillo and Hummingbird classes visit Harwich lighthouse

3rd August 16

Armadillo and Hummingbird classes braved the strong wintery winds around Harwich lighthouse on Tuesday. We felt like celebrities as we were met and welcomed by the Town Cryer and had our photo taken by the local newspaper before scaling the low and high lighthouses and marvelling at the 350 year old Treadwheel crane: two giant wooden hamster wheels attached to a chain which was used to winch heavy loads on to ships.

We even ate our lunch in one of the oldest cinemas in the country (as you can see, Mrs Peoples was very excited!)
